The Project
TRACKS is a Research and Training Network focussed on the physiological and pathophysiological aspects in humans of a family of enzymes called transglutaminases (TGases). Further information on the Overall Objectives for the Project
..The scientific objectives of the project are:
- Objective 1 : to establish the role of TGs in neurodegenerative diseases
- Objective 2 : to determine the role of TGs in wound healing and scarring
- Objective 3 : to determine the role of TGs in Coeliac disease
- Objective 4 : to obtain a transgenic animal model that allows the study of the autoimmune response found in celiac disease
- Objective 5 : to develop highly specific site-directed TGs inhibitors which are applicable in the treatment of these diseases
- Objective 6 : to develop experimental methods, laboratory/diagnostic tests and industrial prototypes for the assay of TGs, their inhibitors, their products and antibodies against these
